Q. McLeod, practicing as senior counsel for the law firm
of Beusse,
Wolter, Sanks, Mora & Maire, P.A., is
a graduate of Florida International University
(B.S., Electrical Engineering, 1989; B.S., Computer
Science, 1989) and the University of Miami School
of Law (Juris Doctor, cum laude, 1991). She is
a registered patent attorney and is licensed to
practice law in Florida.
Ms. McLeod has experience in representing clients
in various intellectual property matters, including
patent, trademark, and copyright matters, licensing,
dispute resolution, and litigation support. Her practice
includes patent application preparation and prosecution
in a wide range of technologies, including: electronics,
communications systems, computer hardware and
software. Ms. McLeod also
counsels clients on the patentability of inventions
and provides patent infringement and validity
opinions. Her experience
further includes counseling clients on issues
involving computer software and the protection
and use of copyrighted materials, as well as registration
of copyrights with the U.S. Copyright Office.
She also counsels clients on the selection, availability
for use, and registration of trademarks and service
marks, and on the preparation and prosecution
of applications to protect marks with state agencies
and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including
opposition and cancellation practice before the
Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Her practice
includes coordination of foreign patent and trademark
filings.
Ms. McLeod, formerly an Adjunct Professor at the University
of Florida Levin College of Law (Trademark Registration Practice) and
Barry University (Patent Law),
has lectured widely on various intellectual property
issues.
Ms. McLeod was recently selected by her peers for inclusion in
The Best Lawyers in America® 2010 in the field of intellectual property law
(Copyright 2010 by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken, S.C.). She was also recognized by
Orlando Magazine as one of Orlando's Top Lawyers, February 2010 edition. This is her
fifth time receiving the distinction. Ms. McLeod has also been awarded the highest AV®

Society of the Florida
Museum of Natural History and is recognized
on the Annual Giving Wall in the Museum Gallery.
Her gift supports exhibits and public programs
at the museum, as well as research with the museum's
